The GEIP Consortium currently includes Georgia Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (POLI-USP), Technical University Darmstadt, ETH Zürich, and Continental AG. Rod's responsibilities with GEIP include coordinating all student applications from partner universities; assisting with the selection of student interns; and providing all central communications to students, faculty, staff, and companies.
Fluent in Spanish, Rod honed his language and inter-cultural skills through participation in language immersion and foreign exchange programs, and by working abroad. He brings a wide range of experience from his work in both the corporate environment and in academia, and has worked in industries ranging from automotive to petrochemicals.
He was an electrical engineer with DuPont Company specializing in Instrumentation & Control Systems; Associate Director for MBA Career Management with the Georgia Tech College of Management; and Career Consultant for the ESADE Business School's MBA Program in Barcelona, Spain, where he was responsible for coordinating student internship contracts within the European Union.
Rod was a Human Resources Consultant for Kimberly-Clark Latin American Operations, where he managed the university relations throughout Latin America, Spain, and the USA; as well as the Business/Engineering Internship Program for the region. He also had responsibility for setting up international projects that involved interaction of university students, staff, and faculty with corporate teams.
Rod has taught Spanish Language and Culture at the university level and has served as the Program Coordinator for Study Abroad Programs in China, Greece, and Spain. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master's degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in International Business with special focus on Latin America and Spain, from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition, Rod has done post-graduate studies on Mexican, Indian, and East European cultures at the University of Alabama.
